Gaspe (CYGP); parking $12/ plane, no other charges

7 pax van is available to be rented for $49/day, unlimited km. (based on the number of participants we will need to determine if a second vehicle will also need to be rented)

Riviere-du-loup; fuel $2.02/litre, no other charges no landing fees

Mont-Joli; fuel  $2.72/litre; no other charges, no landing fees

Fuel charges at CYQB and CYGP will be available for the August meeting.

Accommodations:  Auberges Des Commandants (note there are two locations, the “hotels” location is the one in the town of Gaspe http://www.hoteldescommandants.com/

Rooms approx $115, non-smoking available, no group rates. Cancellation by noon of sameday.

Motel Adam http://www.moteladams.com/  have been recommended (by the airport manager);

rooms approx. $115, all rooms non-smoking. group rates over 10 rooms, however this alters the cancellation policy to days in advance. Regular cancellation is (preferred 24 hours notice) up to 5:00pm the same day. Possible packages available. Lots of availability at this point. Need to book at least 3 weeks in advance.

Since accommodation only needs to be reserved 3-4 weeks in advanced, please consider the options presented and we can discuss how we wish to proceed at the August meeting. Information on accommodation options will continue to compiled for presentation at the August meeting.

Activities: a day trip to Perce, whale watching and flights to Anticosti Island (Port-Menier Airport CYPN).

Next steps:  It is requested that you confirm your participation in the trip as soon as you are able, but by August 1, 2011 at the absolute latest.

It is especially important for rental pilots to confirm as soon as possible as the number of rental aircraft is limited and will need to be coordinated with other parties. 

In addition, any owners that have space available to take passengers please advise.

Next meeting: information will continue to circulate via email as it becomes available.

The next meeting will be held in Mid-August, for the group to get acquainted and finalize aspects of the trip and routing (unless the group determines a meeting sooner is warranted).

At that meeting an alternate “western” destination will also be presented, in the event that weather prohibits travel to the east.

The group will also meet the week prior to departure to discuss last minute details and determine go-no-go criteria.
