What it allows you to do

An Instrument rating allows a private or commercial pilot license holder to fly into Instrument Meteorological conditions, ie cloud and visibility less than VFR. Instrument rating is required for a commercial pilot to be PIC of a commercial flight carrying passengers at night. Instrument rating includes VFR OTT rating.

Requirements

An Instrument Rating is issued for aircraft in one of the following groups:

The Rockcliffe Flying Club can conduct Group 1 and Group 3 instrument training

Before commencing flight training for the Instrument Rating, an applicant must hold a Private or Commercial Pilot License

The following is representative of the fees incurred for a Group 3 Instrument Rating, using our Redbird full motion flight training device and Cessna 172 aeroplane, based on the minimum course requirements as stipulated by Transport Canada. Additional training may be required to achieve the proficiency necessary to obtain an Instrument Rating.
