A private pilot licence holder may act as pilot-in-command or co-pilot of an aeroplane of a class and type in respect of which the licence is endorsed with ratings and pilot-in-command of an ultra-light aeroplane. PPL may be endorsed with Night, VFR OTT, Instrument ratings, and different aeroplane class ratings.

The Transport Canada course requirements are minimums and it is extremely rare for a new student, without prior flight training experience, to achieve the proficiency required to obtain a licence. With this in mind, outlined below are the Transport Canada minimum course requirements and what we believe is a realistic estimate of the cost to obtain a licence.

The time required to complete the course requirements is dependent on a number of contributing factors. These include the student's aptitude and ability, as well as suitable weather conditions to enable the student and instructor to complete the required exercises. Each student is encouraged to progress through the flight training exercises at his/her own rate. After learning basic aircraft handling, you will proceed in a step by step sequence through more complex air exercises.
